the story so far...

the story so far.. there has been quite a delay in starting this blog...... just because i had'nt had enough fire under my belly to consolidate all thoughts n perceptions into sensible constructs of english literature..I shall first share my travel experiences with u all.... counting on my finger tips.. i found to myself that i had personally explored 31 places throughout India......right from Delhi to kanyakumari ( n-s) & ahmedabad to Allahabad ( e-w)... and still craving for at least 41 more places throughout India.....quickly summarizing my archi-ventures.......not in a very chronological order, but a sequence that comes to my mind.......Firstly..visit to the tribal villages in the hills of wayanad (kerala)... traveling southwards to trivandrum & meeting Ar laurie Baker at his home ( thanks to my senior Vineetha.. its her grandpa...& i wouldn't want to miss such an opportunity ....that must have be my experience of lifetime... talking to an architect who built an affordable aesthetic to the middle class.. his archetypal responses using local material..etc... a thing to learn from him was his travel experiences that made him meet a lot of people from various backgrounds......... including Mahatma Gandhi.... it was indeed great to see an architect recalling all his memories.....the next best thing i remember doing in my life is "tour of ahmedabad".. it was one of my senior's presentations at the Kurula Varkey forum in ahmedabad...... i had been helping him in his presentations ... i had just recently won some cash prizes in a national architecture quiz called ARCHUMEN....... i could use that money to organise a self paid trip to ahmedabad....me n my classmate Pankaj went all around places in ahmedabad....then at midnight just strolling beside the bus station premises to kill time....... we discovered that MANEK CHOWK was just around ........ since the bus was at 3 am..... we decided to go that place.. i had once heard my professor describing about it ... about it versatile nature of handling various functions through a 24 hour cycle... it was a hub...... a jewel in the urban plan of ahmedabad at night.... we spent sometime seeing the local people participating with much enthusiasm eating n enjoying ....... we came back by 12 pm... slept for about 2 hrs on the bench in chilly n biting cold night........ we took a regional bus service to a check post on the highway... then a truck journey to modhera....... all this journey at night was intentional....... coz we had to see the first rays of the sun lighting the interiors of the temple...... to our surprise we did not see that happen..... just because we forgot what was taught in our geography class in school about the SOLSTICE n EQUINOXES... all such adventures .i guess are a must ...
